Brief Introduction
SEELPA’s Mission and Collaboration
SEELPA’s primary mission is to facilitate CPD opportunities for English language educators through fostering collaboration, resource sharing and continuous learning. Our goal is enhance the quality of English language education across all levels in Ethiopia, supporting teachers in their journeys toward self-directed PD and facilitating the establishment of school-based communities of practice (CoPs) in order to ultimately improve learning outcomes.
Main Achievements
SEELPA in collaboration with British Council and Hawassa University
1st Annual International Conference in which 150 teachers and educators took part.
June, 2024
SEELPA won the 2024/25 British Council teacher association project competitive grant awards, under the English Connects Sub-Saharan Africa program.
September, 2024
SEELPA officially became an IATEFL associate.
January, 2024
SEELPA won the 2025/26 Hornby trust teacher association project competitive grant awards from the A.S. Hornby Educational Trust.

SEELPA hosted the British Councils’ Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Director, Dr. Lucy Pearson

SEELPA hosted a senior delegation from the East Africa Regional English Language Office (RELO) in Addis Ababa, led by Dr. Gena Rhoades, Officer of the East Africa RELO
